Account creation in Rook Links is intentionally minimal. You sign up, verify your email, and you are in. No long onboarding form before you can publish, no credit card required for a Free workspace.
The whole flow is built so the dashboard greets you within two minutes of clicking Sign up. Most of what shapes your public page sits inside the dashboard itself, not behind a wall of pre signup questions.
Pick your sign in method
You have two options. Email and password, or continue with Google. Both land you in the same place. Google is faster and avoids one password to remember. Email and password is useful when your team shares accounts across staff who may not all use Google.
If you sign in with email, the password rules are calm: minimum eight characters, no special character requirements, no forced rotation. Pick something you can actually remember and turn on a password manager rather than relying on complexity rules to keep you safe.
Verify your email
Three steps to your dashboard
- 1
Open the verification email
Comes from no reply at rookhq.com. Subject line begins with Verify your Rook Links email.
- 2
Tap the verification link
The link expires after 24 hours. If yours has lapsed, request a fresh one from the verification page.
- 3
Land in the dashboard
You see Quick Actions on the left and a mobile preview of your blank public page on the right.
What happens on first sign in
After verification, the dashboard greets you with Quick Actions and a small trial popup. The popup shows for two seconds, once per session, with a tap target to dismiss it.
Free workspaces see Quick Actions in place of the analytics overview. Quick Actions surfaces the next thing to do: claim your handle, upload a profile picture, ship a tile. Paid workspaces see the analytics overview from day one, even when there is no data yet to read.
Trial state
Your subscription enters trial state automatically. Trial start and end dates are shown in Billing. The dashboard surfaces remaining days so you can plan an upgrade decision before the trial ends. You can apply a promo code at any time during the trial; the discount kicks in at the end.
Two factor authentication
Open Account settings to enable two factor authentication. We support TOTP apps (Authy, 1Password, Google Authenticator). For Pro and higher plans, two factor is recommended; for Enterprise it is required and configurable per workspace.
Common pitfalls
- Verifying with a corporate email that quarantines the link.
- Closing the verification email tab before tapping the link, then losing the email.
- Signing up twice with two different methods (Google and email) and ending up with two empty accounts.
